Chronicle Update

Happy New Year.  2006 was a great year for Croton and we thank all our friends and loyal customers, members of the Croton extended family, for making it so. We wish all of you a wonderful 2007.

If you have been browsing www.crotonwatch.com, then you already know that Croton loves sports; whether creating great looking sports watches or supporting our favorite teams.  Now that football season is here, you can listen to the Croton sponsored Play of The Game, Turning Point of the Game or Countdown to Kickoff for some major NFL teams on your radio or live streaming internet.  On the east or west coast, listen to the New York Giants or the San Francisco 49ers and you too can win a Croton Watch!

It was a fun year for Croton and the Movies.  The entertainment industry appreciates the fashion and quality of a Croton Watch and consistently requests our timepieces for their Projects.  Big Momma’s House 2 (now available on DVD), is a very funny movie and its star, Martin Lawrence, sports a Croton on his wrist. Look for us in the new Denzel Washington flick, “Déjà vu”. There are currently many movies in production that will be featuring Croton Watches and I will keep you up to date on their progress and release.

This issue of the Croton Chronicle premiers our new feature, Ask Old Man Time, and we hope you like it.   Please remember that your feedback is important to us, so drop me a line with any questions or comments and I promise to respond

    Sincerely,

The Croton Chronicler

Styles To Watch:

Carbon Fibre Swiss Automatic

Architectural in look with a rectangular case, our carbon fibre watch with a Swiss Automatic Movement is another great launch in this series. The extra large, sleek 316L Surgical Grade Solid Stainless Steel case frames the featured genuine carbon fibre dial. The curved sapphire crystal reveals the carbon fibre dial with applied Arabic numerals and an inner rectangular minute track as well as a vertical day window at the 12 O’clock position.

The carbon fibre is also set and sealed in a stainless steel casing on the sides, which are smooth to the touch and the eye. The matching stainless steel bracelet has two rows of genuine carbon fibre inserts running down the center links and ends in a butterfly clasp.
This mega attention grabber is water resistant to 3ATM (100ft). Available in rose tone with brown carbon fibre, stainless steel with black carbon fibre, or stainless steel with grey carbon fibre.

Style Meets Heritage

Collectible and stylish is what we say about the new State Quarters Collection by Croton. Croton has launched its state coin watch series in celebration of the United States Mint’s 50 State Quarters Program. California, Florida, New Jersey, New York and Texas are the states which will debut this collection of official genuine US currency.

The front of the watch will showcase the featured state coin with its name, date of admission to the union and beautiful depiction of each state’s noteworthy facts. Stars indicate the 3:00, 6:00, 9:00 and 12:00 positions, and stick markers are at all the other hours.

The 38mm stainless steel case has a coin edge bezel, and the back of the watch shows the obverse design of the quarter: George Washington. With a Swiss Rhonda movement and genuine black leather band, you’re sure to make a State-Mint!!

Hi Tech

Ceramic and Fabulous!!! Our solid stainless steel and ceramic Swiss quartz watch takes hi tech and fashion to a new level. Function, style, durability and great design describe this new look from Croton.

The stainless steel and ceramic uni directional ratchet bezel with stick indicators (grey on the white or white on the black), frames the sapphire crystal covered ceramic dial with applied silver tone roman numerals, luminous dauphine hands, red second hand with luminous tip and a round date window at the 6 O’clock position.

The color continues with ceramic links down the center of the stainless steel bracelet ending in a push button deployant clasp. Attention to detail is always evident in a Croton watch, so we added a screw in case back and water resistance to 10ATM (330ft).

Available in stainless steel with black or white ceramic, this highly durable and beautiful watch, like all our watches, is covered by the Croton Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Strong and Lightweight

Carbon Fibre and Titanium; it does seem like a natural combination, and Croton takes it one level up with a cutting edge look to our new chronograph!

The grey titanium case presents a stunning carbon fibre dial in either silver or black with coordinating colored sub dials and tachymeter on the flange. The luminous hands will light your way in the dark as well as the applied silver stick markers with luminous edges.

Add a date window at the 3 position, a sapphire crystal and water resistance to 10ATM (330ft), and we’re off to the races. But we don’t stop there. The band to this strong and durable timepiece is carbon fibre overlay on a leather strap with a titanium buckle.

Now you are ready to go!

Ask Old Man Time

What does a Helium release (or relief) valve do?

The purpose and function of the helium relief valve is a common point of confusion. It has nothing to do with normal underwater diving. Helium does NOT seep into the watch while the watch is in water at any depth. At approximately 250 feet, air becomes toxic due to changes caused by the high pressures at such depths. Special types of ocean exploration vessels are used by those who do very deep sea research. In some of these, a highly helium-saturated atmosphere is used to avoid the air toxicity effect.

The purpose of a helium release valve is for people who wear their watch inside the helium-saturated environment for an extended period. Because helium is the smallest atom, it will seep through the watch's seals under the high air (not water) pressures in this environment. If the watch stays in this environment for an extended time, helium will continue to seep in to the watch until the air pressure inside the watch (initially surface air pressure) equalizes to the air pressure in the environment.

This becomes a problem when the vessel is brought back up and depressurized. The helium which seeped into the watch over a couple of days cannot seep out any faster. The excess pressure inside the watch needs a way to release faster than it seeped in. It is only in this situation that a watch needs a helium relief valve at all. If a relief valve was not on the watch, the excess pressure would likely escape by pushing the crystal out.
